What's New in the Beta Beta
NeXus 2026.1 Beta 2 is out now. This page lists what changed since the 2026.0.1 release.
Everything else in these docs works as before. Beta features are marked Beta on their pages. Features new in Beta 2 are marked Beta 2. For every change and bug fix in each beta, see the Changelog.
New in Beta 2
Section titled “New in Beta 2”- nxOcean, nxShatter and nxWarp, with a new Warps submenu.
- nxEmitter: Keep Stored Age for the Initial State.
- nxCollider: the Outside, Fill Hollows normals option.
- nxFluids FLIP/APIC and nxMesher: ocean coupling, to blend a FLIP liquid into an nxOcean.
- Cinema 4D: Modify Cinema 4D Particles in the NeXus Project Settings, so NeXus modifiers can drive the native particles in Cinema 4D 2025.3 or later, plus GPU preferences and Rewind on Load.
Beta 2 also fixes many bugs. See the Changelog.
NeXus for Cinema 4D
Section titled “NeXus for Cinema 4D”NeXus now runs in Cinema 4D too, with the same objects and options as in Blender. These docs cover both. See NeXus for Cinema 4D for the menu, the units and the few differences.
New objects
Section titled “New objects”| Object | What it does | Menu |
|---|---|---|
| nxMPM | Simulates liquid, elastic, snow, sand, brittle, metal and foam materials and mixes them | Dynamics |
| nxMaterial | Builds a ready-to-play nxMPM material setup in one click | Presets |
| nxDeformer | Makes a mesh follow particles and can tear it apart | Generators |
| nxPin | Holds selected particles still, as anchors | Dynamics |
| nxBind | Holds particles in place inside a deforming volume, then lets them go | Modifiers |
| nxBioLogic | Grows cellular patterns from particles, with generated tubes | Modifiers |
| nxOcean Beta 2 | Generates an ocean surface with foam and spray and couples to a FLIP liquid | Generators |
| nxWarp Beta 2 | Bends, twists, tapers and reshapes particles, with 19 types | Warps |
| nxShatter Beta 2 | Breaks a mesh into pieces and re-breaks the pieces | Generators |
| nxFalloff Modifier | Reshapes the falloffs below it in a falloff list | Falloff list |
| Vertex Maps | Writes falloffs onto a mesh as attributes or vertex groups | Object Data properties |
The Add menu
Section titled “The Add menu”The Add ▸ INSYDIUM NeXus menu is now split into submenus: Presets, Generators, Dynamics, Modifiers and Warps. See Adding NeXus Objects.
New in existing objects
Section titled “New in existing objects”- nxEmitter: Display Channels, so one emitter can draw in several ways. An Initial State tab starts the simulation from stored particles.
- nxFluids FLIP/APIC: Wall Friction, non-Newtonian liquids and ocean coupling.
- nxCollider: Adhesion, surface mapping of its settings and Collection Instances as colliders.
- nxMesher: UV advection, Detail Aware smoothing and blending into an nxOcean.
- nxFoam: Adhesion and Foam Location for whitewater resting on the surface.
- nxCache: a record frame range and a Disk Reserve.
- nxGenerator: a Mode to place objects in sequence, at random or by index.
- nxColor and nxFlowField: a Cyclic layer.
- nxFalloff: nine new shapes and a Falloff list on every layer of a layered modifier.
- Mapping: one layer can drive several destinations.
- nxQuestion: Asleep and Bound flags plus Sleep and Bind actions.
Renamed and changed
Section titled “Renamed and changed”A few labels and defaults changed. The most visible ones:
- nxSpeed: the layer is now Acceleration and its value is Exponential, matching Cinema 4D.
- nxGenerator: Spawn is now Bias.
- nxCache: Auto is now Auto Frame Range.
- FLIP and nxMPM now follow collider group filters.
The Changelog lists them all, per beta.
